another day. Had 2 eggs great start.
After a few delays we distributed clothes-jeans, sweaters, undies, belts, sandals and later for shirts-- to high school grades 9 10, 11 and grades 8 and 7. Was told by our security that with 40% of the boys going someplace for December ( 30 day) break, they will lose or forget their new duds so they get their new clothes upon returning in January and altho the younger guys are disappointed think its best all around. BUT THE OLDER GUYS WERE SOOOOOOOO PROUD OF THEIR NEW BELTS AND TSHIRTS ETC SO HAPPY AND PROUD GIVES THEM A HELL OF A LOT MORE DIGNITY. So congrats to all donors- all the cash is spent on the jeans, tshirts, belts, sandals, sweaters and shirts and thanks to Lisa for donating to cover half the costs. BTW I had some cash left over and we (you donors and us) are buying 35 new mattresses-- sooo needed!
I went to visit the girls for at lunch cannot get my fill of them , guess too attached. Not really! Then I felt a little queasy but headed for town with 15 grade 7 boys to see a snake and monkey kinda animal shelter/museum. We got down the road a mile and we saw elephants so we stopped and driver Simon got a call to get something back at St Claires and the boys and I looked at the elephants, but... I was in bad shape upset stomach and toilet off a few miles. FINALLY Simon comes back and now I need to get to a inside facility fast so back to St Claires. After that toilet visit I felt a lot better and did not want to disappoint the guys on the planned visit to town so off we went to Meru to the snaky place. It's about 12 km from the village to Meru Museum (snakes) and NONE of the 15 guys had been there and many are here 6 or 8 years....its only 12 KM. I treated the guys to cokes and they wore their new clothes and were proud as punch!! The museum cost $6 for us all. BTW I felt a lot better Oh one monkey was cleaning the other and you would swear they were human...
BIG NEWS after $100 and eight weeks we have 2 hoops up in place and tomorrow at daybreak I am going to shoot a few hoops-- Fr. Riwa said he will put a plaque there saying its "The Bruce Garrity Basketball Facility" man, you just gotta pay it forward.
Got Lisa (in Mich) and Ted (in Charlottetown) and Fr. Riwa (Kenya) talking about short and long term food needs for the boys. (Emailing to each other)
Pauline the piggery Lady got a email message from her PEI piggery contact and she is very pleased.
The cooks made me a plate of really good meat tonight-- nice guys
don't think i told you all that our school here is closed for the dec break already and I knew that a month ago so I changed my return flight to Dec 3 from Dec 10 so 7 days from mow I will be kissing my wife YES. But in truth I so want to go home and so want to stay --quandry! So I leave here on the 29th for Nairobi and overnight there with my friend Marek. Then on Nov. 30 I hired a guide to take me to Masai Mara game area where am told all the animals are-- stay there for 2 nights and fly home dec 2 at midnite-- arriving home Monday evening with all the time changes...

Bruce:
Our school would like to Skype with you sometime today, if possible! You have some great stories throughout your blog. Our school's link with Kenya is the community of Matuto. Keep up the good work.
