Bruce Garrity
Born in New York City in 1944, raised in Westfield, Massachusetts, and attended Saint Dunstan’s University in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada receiving his BA in 1966.
Bruce spent a year in the US Peace Corps just north of New Delhi in India, and three years in the US Army, the last of which was in Viet Nam.
In 1970 he married Maureen Nantes of Charlottetown and they spent four years in New York City while he worked for the New York Telephone Company.
In 1974 the Garritys moved to PEI. Bruce gained employment with the PEI government and spent 26 years with Tourism PEI working in marketing, managing the Visitor Centres and doing development work. He has worked with every PEI area Tourist association and has extensive knowledge of the whole Island and all its tourist attractions, accommodations and activities.
Bruce retired from the Provincial Government in April, 2002
Bruce and Maureen reside in Charlottetown and have 5 children with ages ranging from 30 to 16. Bruce is presently in his first term on Charlottetown City Council , is the Coordinator of Seniors’ College of PEI and volunteers widely especially with habitat for Humanity.
